Recurring events: Is there a simpler way

We are using the free “events calendar” by Modern Tribe

We have several recurring events. One is a weekly Friday radio show. A simple way for our volunteers to advertise the coming radio shows did not work and we now use the same concept in a more complicated way.
*** Is there a simpler way of doing this?

I created a single future event
. URL = http://bze.org.au/event/coming-radio-shows
. Title = Coming radio shows
. Event date = next Friday, revised each week.
. Content = description of next Friday’s show, plus a description of other future shows.
. Event time is the same each week. It did not have to change
. Event location is the same radio station each week. It did not have to change
. Event web site = http://bze.org.au/bze-technology-radio-show/

I hoped that each week we could simply change the event date to the next Friday and modify the content. However, this did not work. The event failed to appear in our calendar.

I tried using a plugin to change the event to a post and then back to an event. This did not work.

Now we delete the event and create a new event with the same URL. This requires many more steps than the original simple way which did not work

After each radio show we create a post describing the show and link to the podcast. We do not want to keep a calendar event which also describes this show.
